A FEW OF MY FAVORITE HOLIDAY GIFTS

I had such a great vacation over the holidays spending some much-needed quality time with my family in New Mexico. The holidays, for me, are all about being around loved ones and taking the time to reconnect with those that I love the most, but I would be lying to you if I said I didn’t also receive some really awesome (and thoughtful) Christmas gifts.

My auntie gave me this amazing 2pac shirt. If you know me, you know how much I love 2pac and how I’m always repping my home, California. I adore this 2pac tee so much that I couldn’t even wait a day to start wearing it around the house. California love!

My wonderful Mom knows how much I have been raving over dramatic, oversized gold jewelry, so she got me these incredible statement earrings from Marni. I love big earrings (especially with my new short hair cut) and I cannot wait to wear these with so many looks in 2017.

Lastly, as a little treat to myself this holiday, I bought these cat-eye sunglasses from Adam Selman x Le Specs. I have been dying to buy these sunglasses for almost a year now and I finally bit the bullet. I could not be happier with my purchase. I love their sleek shape and the ultra-cool vibe they exude.

I hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and I want to wish everyone a very happy new year. Thank you for your continued support and love! Cheers to 2017!!

When I initially saw these pants, honestly, the very first thing that popped into my head was Curious George. The particular shade of yellow (for whatever reason) reminded me of The Man with the Yellow Hat — Curious George’s faithful keeper. Even though I absolutely loved these pants when I purchased them, many people were very skeptical about how I could manage to make bright yellow trousers look stylish and cool.

I knew that because these pants were so bright, everything else about my outfit needed to be relatively muted. The black leather jacket, dark concert tee and simple sunglasses really allow the pants to pop without looking silly or uncomfortably ostentatious. I always tell people that when they wear brightly colored bottoms (whether it be pants, a skirt or shorts), they should aim to pair them with a plain black, white or nude top. Trying to find complementary colors can be daunting and really requires one to have a great eye and a developed sense of tones and shades.

To keep it simple and easy, a plain black or white top with colorful bottoms will never look out of place.

My go-to summer outfit this season has been very simple: an oversized t-shirt, distressed denim, statement sandals or heels, and gold accessories. Jeans and a tee can be done in so many ways and are super comfortable for when I have a lot of things to do in a day. I always make sure that I elevate my look with accessories whether it’s fun shoes, a bright handbag, oversized sunglasses or bold jewelry. In the warmer months, it is much easier to add flair to your outfit with accessories instead of layers of extra clothing.
